The pics below kind of capture the scraggly-ness of her current 'do, but not fully. It's actually long enough that her bangs fall in front of her eyes now. She also still has cradle cap scales. I briefly considered going at them with some head and shoulders. Then I decided that if she didn't care about her scales, then neither should I.

I love these pants on her. She loves them too. See?
So I googled "toddler hairdo" and found this and this. In case you don't want to click on the actual link, one is a pinterest board with pics of fancy toddler and preschooler hairdos, and the other is a blog of two moms of toddlers. All I have to say is holy mother of god some mothers have waaaaayyyyy too much time on their hands. And also, very obedient and stationary daughters. While some of the hairdos were totally adorable, I honestly can't imagine the Dyls staying still long enough for me to accomplish them.
I did find one site that recommended pomade, and well, I'd been considering that myself so that her hair stays parted on the side. Or maybe we'll do the pony on top thing instead, but only if she lets me do it, and only if I get over my fear of the rubber band falling out and her inhaling it while she sleeps.
As per the suggestion of a different daycare lady, we took Dylan to the park today with her push toy (I referred to it as a "walker" at daycare, and was informed that "walkers" were dangerous and they only use "push-toys." Sigh.) This turned out to be a very helpful suggestion, since normally Dyls sits on the ground and has no idea what to do when we take her to the playground. Today by contrast, she did laps around the playground with her
Check out those mad walking skilz!
Thanks to W&C for giving us their daughter's walker. Dyls LOVES it.
I couldn't resist including this one of her in her

In other news, I started compiling my dissertation today. I wrote the description of the database I used for my analyses today, and jotted down ideas for my intro and conclusion sections. It was actually kind of fun! My goal is to have a (shitty) draft done by Friday. Woot!
Now I'm going to go watch the rest of The Artist with Luca.
It was a sad day when i realized the day care ladies were actually cutting my daughter's hair (the bangs). I make sure the front is cut short so that she can see, I don't care much about the rest.
ReplyDeleteI personally find it a bit creepy when little girls have too much done to their hair.
I didn't want to cut my girls' hair at this point (heck, my 2.5 year old just got her first real haircut), so I got little clippy barretts and swept their bangs to the side. I also did the top ponytail.
ReplyDeleteI think its cute! But...I know your pain. B had super long hair and we were not ready to cut it...it was waaayyy past his shoulders when we finally broke down at 18 months. Daycare always complained about it, and in fact, started using regular office-supply rubberbands to pull it back everyday. I had to cut those things out every evening because it got so tangled. I was at a loss at what else to do, since I couldn't very well use barrettes or headbands on a boy.
ReplyDeleteHer hair is too beautiful to cut!
ReplyDelete"Goody" brand has rubber bands in every possible diameter - tiny to large, sold at target/walmart - these are plasticky rubber bands, they stretch enough without breaking while putting on, and slip right off the hair like silk when take off. I used them on my son's hair ;-) what he was 9 months old, to make a little ponytail on top of his head.

OMG...I love those pants too. Remind me of some pink lined pants my baby girl had. She looked so cute in them. Cried when I passed them down to a friend. As for the hair....maybe bangs???? To keep out of eyes.
