So much to post, so little time.
This was a really busy weekend for us. On Saturday we had au pair orientation with our local coordinator. She was all like, "By now I am sure you have her room ready." And I was all like, "Of course!" In reality, no. We do not. If she takes the room upstairs, all we really have to do is make the bed and remove the air conditioners that are being stored in there.
But we're also preparing the basement for her. Which, (con) would be a basement room. But also, (pro) it would be a lot more private and have its own (1/2) bathroom. However, the preparation of this room has involved throwing away a lot of stuff, moving other stuff to closets around the house, re-tiling the bathroom and closet, and will also involve the purchase of a bed, a dresser, and a nightstand of some kind.
So much to do before the au pair's arrival. Preparing the room, arranging for her to do the NYC tour, we have to buy her a gift of some sort, get a line added to our cell plan. Etc.
We also went to the playground and took a long walk with Dyls on Saturday. She is getting better and better at walking every day.
Then on Sunday I did about 7 hours of work on my dissertation while Luca watched the Pickle. And we had date night! We hired the same babysitter we used in November, and it went great. We really like her. We went for ribs and beer, and then drove around and just talked for a while. It was nice, though we did go to bed at 11:30 or some such, which is the latest I've been up in ages. Of course Dylan woke up at 5 this morning. :-P But at least we haven't gotten sick from this date night (yet)! The ribs were yummy too. Yay health food!
It turns out our babysitter (who is also a med student) will be doing the same rotation as I am in April, which is just crazy. She's great, though, so I am not worried. I told her I'd make her look fantastic since it's been 5 years since I've done anything peds related. Haha.
And then today I went to brunch with some friends which was nice. Didn't get much work done today though, unfortunately.
The rest of the weekend was spent chasing Dylan around the house. We are exhausted. Thank goodness she took good naps this weekend otherwise we might not have survived!
Tonight is the 1 year anniversary of me going into labor. This year has gone by so quickly but also so slowly. I went into labor after walking the dog with Luca in... about an hour from now. It was really cold that night, kind of like tonight, actually!
I can't believe Dyls is (almost) one! My parents are visiting this coming weekend to celebrate with us (we're not doing a party or anything, but I'd like to make a cake for her). I'm not going to get any work done with them here, so this had better be a productive week!
